Wow. Thank you, Jack, for your encouragement. I am a church goer - but to hold it to account - not because it is following the straight and narrow path 😥 While there is still a holy remnant, I am so disgusted by the shallow and cowardice of a large part of the community that calls itself "church".
Being a black woman, working in a white community has been challenging somehow. I moved to the states back in the late 80s where attitudes and opinions of people on colour was very unpredictable. The word of God taught me how to love genuinely and sincerely and be ready to defend the vulnerable minority especially the expatriates of colour like me
I love this translation from Message Bible "Don't become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You'll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you."
So much ugly stuff is going on around but every time I pray that God changes me from Inside out that I may never slide
Thank you for bringing this interpretation (MSG) to my attention. I need to be mindful and reflect on the words you shared (Romans 12:1-2 MSG) and these words: If you preach, just preach God’s Message, nothing else; if you help, just help, don’t take over; if you teach, stick to your teaching; if you give encouraging guidance, be careful that you don’t get bossy; if you’re put in charge, don’t manipulate; if you’re called to give aid to people in distress, keep your eyes open and be quick to respond; if you work with the disadvantaged, don’t let yourself get irritated with them or depressed by them. Keep a smile on your face. Romans 12:6-8 MSG
"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind" is something all of us should ponder more often. This "pattern" always begins with a rejection of whatever higher power you choose, then spreads like cancer to a rejection of Nature, neighbors, friends and family, and self. How could we treat God's gifts thus?
More importantly, the quote points to the seat of all our woes: the mind. Only by renewing it may we hope to achieve grace.
I have always loved the concept that we are all part of a Greater Whole, and this chapter shines with this wonderful idea. Assuming we ARE part of this Greater Whole, it makes serving others easier, if not compulsory.
Yes Jack. Once we're part of this beautiful family Apostle Paul is talking about..we start to appreciate why he's asking us to be completely sincere in our love.. respect and appreciate the diversity of our spiritual gifting etc. That helps us compliment each other's strength and performance in His work.
It almost feels like we were in the same spirit on this. I agree with you completely. The pattern of this world may seem attractive but it's sick and disgusting for those who've tasted of the love of God
So true! It's no coincidence that Nimrod, builder of the first cities, is to be found in the lowest circle of Hell, according to Dante. He and his pals are farthest from God's warm love in Hell's frozen worst circle.
I was reading this verse where Jesus makes a prayer saying God has hidden His secrets from the learned and the worldly wise but revealed it to little children (or those who are like little children).
That reminds me of humility. Often despised yet one of the qualities God has greatly valued in scripture. People like Nimrod may have been great in this world according to our standards but God judges 'greatness' differently
Wonderful point. Could not possibly agree more. I think I’ve always been more fascinated with what children are saying and doing than what adults are, and you’re thoughts help explain why.
And yes, there is an intense connection between Nimrod and foolish pride. Who wants to replicate that??
The world I live in is so desperate for genuine love. Today my cousin has called me after a very long time just to tell me how a photo I posted on my timeline was stunning (using her own words). Few minutes later she was asking me to send her some money! It makes me wonder whether her admiration for my post was even honest or just some medium to get into my pocket. Anyway, in situations like this Romans 12 reminds me of the urgency to love genuinely and not just weaponize love as a weapon for personal gain.
Wonderful comment! I'm reminded of "Don't reach out for me, she said, can't you see I'm drowning, too?" Also reminds me of how badly all of us need faith.
I'm so glad you shared Romans 12. I just read it again for the 5th time. The power of the Word of God is unmeasurable. Each time I read this something new becomes more alive. I write often about what the forces of evil are doing, and how horrific it is for their victims. Without the admonitions of Christ in the Bible, I can easily get caught up in allowing hate or bitterness to creep into my life. It is a most important reminder to PRAY for our enemies, and Romans 12 reminds us of this. In John 15:18, Jesus said "If the world hates you, understand that it hated Me first."
In Canada, thousands of people have signs all around the country that say "F%$# Trudeau". I understand that this is a way that many people are simply voicing their anger and disgust at the wicked deeds the Prime Minster is committing and pointing out that what Trudeau is doing is pure evil. That aside, cursing him won't do anything good - it can only cause harm. While I am not proud to admit this sign made me laugh at first, when I would come home every day and see this sticker on my neighbor's car, it began to grieve me. The Bible also commands us in 1 Timothy 2: 1 & 2, to pray for the government, and how to pray for the government.
I decided I would make a sticker. I went to a graphic designer and had 100 of them made.
The sticker says PRAY FOR TRUDEAU.
Shockingly, many people - even Christians - said they could not get behind this! WOW!
They do not know their Bible, and so I had to explain to many of them that this sticker was not an endorsement - it was simply a step of obedience to God and His Word.
The evil in this world is too big for us alone, but with God ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE! When you read a discouraging news headline or friends or family speak to you in panic, share with them the peace and joy that comes from praying for the government and your enemies, and following up your prayers by finding a way to bless them.
WOW! Insightful stuff, and I say that as no churchgoer. Your thoughts on Trudeau are beautiful and inspiring; couldn't agree more (even if I'm not Canadian). Also, more importantly, this quote: "If the world hates you, understand that it hated Me first"–is more true than almost anyone can imagine. If you follow the trail of our woe all the way back to its beginning, you'll find the people there CHOOSING to turn their backs on God, whether you call him "God" or "Nature," as I do. Powerful! Don't remember it from my Catholic school daze.
There's a very special secret wisdom behind this phrase 'love your enemies' that's often ignored. Could be because it makes people feel powerless or vulnerable and weak. But when carefully exploited, it harbours a tremendous power both in this natural world and the supernatural. I think that's what the scripture means when it says the secrets of God are hidden within the simple and the ordinary and it's through those that He manifests His might.
Thank you for reminding me about this Brandon. Obedience to God must always come first no matter what I one feels. I understand how hard it's been for you there in Canada but making such a sticker is great since it helps you to pray about it from a position of love and not hate. I'm praying together with you on that ❤️
Thank you so much brother! The Bible says to "Bear one another's burden and so fulfill the law of Christ" Thank you for your prayers! I am humbled by your caring for us. I see what bravery that many African nations are taking to stand for Biblical truth and righteousness.
It gives me courage and strength in the face of what seems impossible.
These African nations are especially courageous since it is well documented that evil forces in the United States government and the UN are using financial threats and tactics against nations who are standing for Jesus against the perversion being used to force deviant sexuality on cultures - deviance that is in direct defiance of God's beautiful plan of marriage and His ideal ways to raise a family. Many Blessings 🙏🙏🙏

I wrote about it here

I have also written a 50 page treatise on the subject
Hope this finds you well and blessed 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
I love this already 🔥.
Thanks for sharing it with us Brandon 🙏
yes....
well it is quite complicated. There are very godly people in the United States like Pastor Jack Hibbs
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_AhqKMim-U
Here is his prayer before Congress.
He actually broke a bunch of rules Congress tried to place on him.
Here is more of the story https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UU1D8pYj-tQ&t=1108s
You are right that most of the leaders of the United States are pure evil.
The United States does have a heritage of sending the most Gospel to other nations in history.
Now however with many forces of darkness wishing to turn the United States away from God, and into communism https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aOysMK5xK5c&t=1117s
Please pray for the United States. When they fall, our freedom is over.
Blessings to you
America is always in my prayers. I pray everyday that the continuous commitment of the remnant brings fruits of redemption to the country again.

This is fantastic Noelle!
Thank you so much for this. I'd like to restack your comment for my followers too if that's okay with you.
The transformation.. everyday., Oh, what a refreshing share Shila!
Be blessed.
I this like MSG translation? Sounds interesting. Culture come and pass. I wouldn't want it to drag me down with it either

What? America is misbehaving? LOL. And they call themselves a Christian nation...
Much welcomed Brandon. May the Lord always grant you strength and grace to stay firm and deeply founded in Him always
It's good to read of your faith.
Absolutely true Mark. Thank you
Glad to have you here
