Absolute Gold nugget. The masses seem to be caught up swimming in that "new age religion" So many are searching, and I know that Satan comes calling when you are down and out in a vulnerable state and the new age beliefs to them sound so "magical" and microwave fast results - if I think it I can have it that is what people are lapping up. Very scary and sad. Thank you so much for this article please keep writing them they are packed with God's wisdom and knowledge. May the Lord Jesus bless and protect you Derick.

Very deep insight you've discussed here Derick. Would love to invite you to speak on a similar topic this November.

If that works.

The prosperity gospel is unfortunately alive and well, especially in the mega churches. And it helps to justify the salaries of their leadership. What you speak of regarding manifesting tiptoes along the line of ask and receive. It can be hard to decipher between the two. But I guess I come down here: if there is a good burden placed on my heart, I will ask for it to be satisfied.

Well said Angie. As I was reading your comment..something came in my mind..Prayer by the Spirit.

I believe a reflection on Fruit of the Spirit as discussed by Paul in Galatians can be a great way to evaluate and direct the burdens we choose to pray about.

Nice. The subconscious forces controlling particular potential prosperity churches do not realize they are fulfilling part of Revelation's seven (7) churches, especially the lukewarm church of Laodicea. This is the model of a church mantra (they are poor in spirit, blind to the truth of repentance & naked to true humility). Satan is pleased if you are just lukewarm all the way to your eternal damnation. Therefore, we must repent, wake up & return to our first love. Be wary of those who come in His name who piecemeal the concepts of being a Christian. The enemy has infiltrated the ranks & the wolves have acquired the uniform (the sheep’s clothing). We must Be careful & test any leader or key stakeholders you see rise if they preach, practice, act, think & their demeanor is not consistent IAW the commandments of God. An entity, person, etc. may not be from or for God. If we really love the world the desires of our hearts should be focused on doing the fruit of His vine

An insightful column. You describe the "prosperity gospel" as taught by Joel Osteen and other fools cut from the same piece of cloth, the "name it and claim it" perversion of John 16:24 and Matthew 7:7.

Some in Reformed circles call this "carnal Christianity", a system of antinomianism where believers think that, thanks to grace, they are no longer under the law, need not modify their self-centered and prideful behavior, and most assuredly need not repent. A popular heresy in our material culture.

Perfectly articulated Roger. Thank you so much. I'm really looking forward to borrowing some of these insights from you as I develop the second part of this discussion. If that's okay 🙏
